1964 What’s the difference between the BSA Lightning Rocket and BSA Thunderbolt Rocket?

Good question! – and one that deserves an answer. Here it is.

Here is the big difference between the two models – the all-new high-efficiency, twin-port cylinder head and dual carburetors as used on the super-fast Lightning Rocket. Short, straight intake ports, and high compression hemispherical type head space give this free-breathing power plant a walloping charge every time – all the power that any rider can use!

1964 BSA Lightning Rocket anyone? Speed! Fastest way to tennis courts…

…or anywhere lively, sports-minded people go. You’ll be first on your new BSA Lightning Rocket, the new twin-carburetor 40 cubic inch twin motorcycle of sensational acceleration and top speed capabilities.

Take a look at that new twin carburetor head. Dual Amal carbs respond instantly at throttle touch to breathe ample mixture to the large valves, timed for hottest performance by the full-race “Lightning” camshaft. Ther are racing valve springs for smooth performance at highest r.p.m. ranges, and high compression pistons boost horsepower ever upward. Husky oversized bearings give remarkable reliability for miles and miles of rapid riding, and new, fast acceleration four-speed gearbox has improved high-alloy steel gears.

BSA also gives you one of the finest handling twin-tube frames ever made to maneuver all this speed – surest and most confident road handling on turnpike or country lane, and sure and confident road handling on turnpike or country lane, and sure and confident stopping from powerful, racing-type brakes.

This ultra high speed motorcycle is fitted with a precision speedometer and tachometer, beautifully streamlined chrome paneled racing-type tank, chromed sports fenders, sport-type headlight, sports forks with dust covers, chrome chain guard and touches of chrome tastefully applied to many parts. Highly polished alloy brightens the rest, except for the gleaming black enamel frame and new color Mandarin Red enamel on tank and quick-removable side nacelle panels. Passenger dual seat, jiffy and center stands and new Dunlop “Road-hug” tires, too. See the exciting “Lightning Rocket” at your BSA dealer!
