1962 Daytona 200 to Don Burnett – closest finish ever!

Cover: The closest finish Daytona’s famed 200-mile AMA national championship races have ever seen ended with Don Burnett, Danvers, Mass., beating Dick Mann across the finish line by only TEN FEET. This year he put on a polished performance as a result of many rehearsals in former road races in the East where he always rode very near the leaders, but never quite made the #1 spot. March 4 was Don Burnett’s day, and he presented his lovely wife with a $3500 surprise on their second wedding anniversary. Photo by Robert McVay.
