His time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 46.54 seconds sets a new Daytona record and broke the two-year old record of Paul Goldsmith also made with a Harley-Davidson K. Following Andres in short order to take second and third honors came Jimmy Phillips of Pasadena and Johnny Gibson of Duarte, both from California and Harley-Davidson mounted.

From Little Rock, Arkansas, came Dan Richards and his trusty Harley-Davidson K to win the 100-mile Amateur on March 12. His time of 1 hour, 4 minutes and 54.80 seconds established a new record and his brilliant riding set the stage for further great Harley-Davidson victories the day following. Dan’s speed of 92.43 mph. was almost two miles faster than the previous record.
